Bulgah (Barramundi) - My Daughters Totem

My daughter is turning 24 this year.  The mother of my daughter.  It was a Saturday afternoon and me and the mother of my daughter went to a specific place South of Derby which was her favourite fishing spot.  This was back in 1998.  My daughter is now 23 years old.

it was a good day but we didn't catch anything. The sun was setting and it was time for us to leave.  As we were rolling up our fishing reels, it felt like there was nothing on them.

When my daughters mum pulled in her reel and surprisingly there was a Bulgah (Barramundi) on the end of her line.

The strangest thing is Barramundis normally put up a one hell of a fight.  This particular day though, the Barramundi did not fight.  The hook was just hanging from the tip of the Barramundi's mouth but we still pulled it in.

At the time we did not know that my partner was pregnant.  The next day we went to the hospital because she was getting sick and that's when we got the exciting news that she was pregnant.

My daughter has this bad habit of biting on her lip, like there is something there.  This is how I know that the Barramundi is her totem.

This is the reason that a lot of my art reflects the Barramundi.
