Ella and Mia start searching high and low for the magical tree in the sand hills surrounding their beach-side town. Written by Corina Martin and beautifully illustrated by Fern Martins, The Toast Tree is about family, and the search for magic through the power of a child’s imagination.
Corina Martin is a Kija, Jaru and Gooniyandi woman. She grew up in Broome and was inspired by her family and childhood experiences in and around the beachside town. Corina earned a Bachelor of Marketing and Media as well as a Bachelor of Law. She now works as the Principal Legal Officer at the Aboriginal Family Law Services of WA. The Toast Tree is Corina's first book.

Fern Martins is an Ngarabul woman from New South Wales. She launched her career at the age of 19 with a one-woman sculptural exhibition and has developed her career as a sculptor, printmaker and artist. In 1988, together with other young Aboriginal urban artists, Fern started Boomalli, the Sydney Aboriginal Artists Cooperative. She has exhibited at the National Gallery and has lectured at the University of Adelaide.
