The Bardi people are people of the ocean and the Goorlil (sea turtle) is sacred.
We care for it and it is a food source for our people. We only take what we need and waste nothing.
The stars tell us when it is time to hunt the turtle and when to collect the eggs. The shell of the turtle is reused as a carrying basket, a cooking tool and for art.
The Goorlil life is given and used to its full, nothing goes to waste and the old people also get medicine from the Goorlil to keep the family healthy.
